Pallavi Wali

Founder

Born to Kashmiri Pandit-Manipuri Meitei parents in Rajasthan, Pallavi holds utmost compassion for inclusivity and thoroughly believes in the spirit of Vasudhaiva Kutumbhkam – the world is but one family. She is strongly committed to human rights, sustainable ways of living, peaceful conflict resolution, gender equality, and firmly believes that education is a powerful tool to overcome violence. She founded the South Asian Peace Project (SAPP) to bring to the fore peacebuilding measures that have remained dwarfed, isolated and insulated before the metanarrative of conflict and vengeance. In her own words, “Eating bread with friends is better than eating cake on corpses.”

Pallavi has studied Political Science at Lady Shri Ram College for Women, University of Delhi and Conflict Management at Malaviya Centre for Peace Research, Banaras Hindu University. Over the years, she has worked on varied projects ranging from rural development, livelihood generation, tribal welfare, menstrual health management and social justice. Her association with numerous government and non-government organizations like ONGC Foundation, Child Rights & You, and district administrations and PRIs has provided her an enriched experience in stakeholder management. Peacebuilding, child rights and women's socio-economic status in a predominantly patriarchal setup continue to intrigue her.

At the 2015 Hum Kadam Dialogue between the youth of Kashmir & Delhi organized by Women in Security Conflict Management and Peace (WISCOMP), she presented a paper titled “Militarization and conflict in paradise on earth” to discuss the prospects and role of tourism in peacebuilding in Kashmir. She was also a youth speaker-panellist at the Yuva Pravasi Bhartiya Sammelan organised by the Ministry of External Affairs and Government of Uttar Pradesh in 2019. She was part of the Youth Conflict Management & Mediation Initiative (YCM) and is currently serving as the State President - WICCI Diversity and Inclusion Council.
